Explore the icky, stinky, and plain out gross of the animal world at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University’s newest exhibit, Animal Grossology.
*This post has been created in partnership with Academy of Natural Science at Drexel University. All opinions of grossology are my own. *
Based on Sylvia Branzei’s best-seller, Grossology, this display will immerse you in all those things mom says you can’t talk about at the dinner table. Prepare to be amazed. Prepare to be horrified. Prepare to learn more than you ever thought you wanted to know about the scientifically gross.
I cannot tell a lie. I have my own kind of gross stories. My family will never let me forget that when I was very young (read very very little for this story) I stuck EVERYTHING in my mouth… including manure off my dad’s boots and a dead fly. It’s mortifying, and really, do I WANT TO KNOW all the gross things? No. Really, that one could have gone down, forgotten in history, but alas, I still cannot laugh at that memory. Who could when they are educated on the subject of fly and poop grossness?! Yes, I said THE WORD.
Animal Grossology is all about pooping, puking, smells, and all the grossness of animals made up into one fantastic interactive display with so many fun things for kids to do, and it’s arriving just in time for summer fun with the kids. From May 16, 2015 – August 30, 2015, you can explore the wonderful world of animals and answer questions like….
…why DO cows chew their cud? With a super cool inside look at a cow’s digestive system.
…what is that stuff the cat hacked up? With a hands-on opportunity to trace a hairball.
…why does a skunk smell so bad? WE.SAW.A.REAL.LIVE.SKUNK.
…why are flies so disgusting? Be educated by Mr. Fly himself.
…and so much more.
You didn’t think I would share all, did you? You simply have to go visit for yourself. Take a kid. Go without a kid. It’s colorful and fun for everyone. Make sure you check the website before visiting to see what extra fun things they will be doing, like dissections, Curiosity Carts with live vertebrates and “that came from where” education, and other fun things.
