Who’s ready? School is back in session and I am not going to lie, this summer went way too fast. The last few days have been spent with me wishing summer wasn’t drawing to a close so quickly. This year I have kids in 6th, 4th, and 1rst grade.

If nothing else will make this mama feel old it’s seeing how quickly they move up the grades. Goodness, my oldest is almost halfway through his school years. Then comes college. Oh my.

Does your family have any first day of school traditions?

Favorite breakfast?

We love a good oven pancakes, loaded with apples, cinnamon, and sugar.

Special dinner?

We took pictures and I made oven pancakes, but really I just tried to wake myself up. My kids are generally starting school around 7:30/8:00 since their magical waking hour is 6:00 – 6:30. Except the girl. I have to pry that little one out of bed in the morning, and she is none too happy about it. I tend to be up working until anywhere between 12-1 lately so the hour isn’t so magical for me.

And special dinner? Oh, it’s special all right. I am fairly certain the day will end with pasta, sauce, and a veggie. The first week of school is a little bit crazy. Just a little bit. Instead of a calm and quiet day with kids shipped off to school, it’s books upon books and a mama whose brain isn’t quite ready to figure out what x=, ┬álet alone figure out how these kids forgot everything they learned last year.
